Import taxes

I sent a parcel with my own used goods to my address in Germany using UPS. I stated on the declaration that all were used items and trusted that UPS/ customs would process them accordingly.
I followed the complicated directions to find exact codes for each item. This in itself took hours and should have been a red flag.
The parcel arrived within days, but I was billed an outrageous amount (about as much as the goods' value!). I ended up paying to not loose my stuff, but it has been a nightmare.
All items were processed and declared as goods for sale by UPS regardless of what I wrote on the form or the parcel.
I have been dealing with UPS for several weeks, but have been sent around in circles.
In the end shipping and incorrectly charged taxes cost me more than the items were worth!

Over a week late and $175 in unexpected customs fees that were billed after initial purchase.

It was a very unpleasant experience.
After paying a hefty amount for the shipping service, the package was held back at the customs department.
The receiver had to take a whole day off from work. He had to travel 150+ miles from Marrakech to Casablanca to pay a large amount of money to gain access to the package. This will be the first and last time we use this service.Parcel Monkey replied on 17/05/2024
