No actual courier service to South Africa via USPS. Send at your own risk.

There was no actual courier service via USPS in South Africa. Parcel ended up with the South Africa Post Office, which is a disaster. The addressee eventually located the parcel at the local Post Office and had to go and pick it up.

A lot of stuff broke. I guess I should have expected that with international shipping, but it also sucked because it was too expensive to insure. Which meant a lot of expensive stuff broke. All in all, what I saved by sending it in one big shipment was probably lost in rebuying broken pieces. Some things survived better than others, so I recommend being extra careful in your packing if you don't want to lose things. You might also just be better off buying new (or second hand off ebay) things if they are easily breakable so you don't spend a couple hundred to ship them and then have to rebuy them after.
